It’s winter and here in Bayfield and it has been cold, cold, cold. I’m dreaming of springtime when I can be out in my garden again. Until I can start bringing in fresh flowers from outside, I’m been playing with artificial flowers to add some much-needed color and cheer to our indoor spaces.
It’s amazing how far the world of silk flowers have evolved. They are a far cry from the obvious fabric fakes of our mothers’ era. These days, silk flowers can be so lifelike, it’s almost impossible to spot the imposters!
As always, I turned to Pinterest for inspiration and I wanted to share my favorite finds with you. Check out these gorgeous silk flower projects from around the web:
1. Silk Flower Centerpiece
I love the use of clear resin to simulate water in this glass vase. It really adds to the illusion of freshly cut flowers.
2. Flower Kissing Balls
These flower kissing balls from How to Nest for Less are gorgeous and so simple. I can imagine how this idea would work across all seasons with holy and ivy balls for winter and sunflowers and autumn leaves for fall.
3. Tulip Wreath
Nothing says spring to me more than tulips and I just LOVE this tulip wreath. I think this project would also be adorable for Easter using silk crocus or a combination of the two.
4. Silk Flower Monogram
Kayla wants to try making this project for her room. I think it will be super cute using colorful gerbera daisies.
5. Floating Teacup
I inherited boxes of teacups from my Nana and over the years we’ve done a number of craft projects with them. (I keep a few of my favorites on display in the china cabinet but honestly who uses teacups these days?) If you search ‘floating teacup’ on Pinterest you will find dozens of versions of this project. Again, I can imagine variations for the different seasons depending on your choice of flowers and teacup.
I hope these ideas have brought a little spring into your life like they have for me. I can’t wait to get started on these!
